This weeks guests: Adam and Jason, two area teachers.

Class is in secession. Little known fact: except for Comicbookman all the members of the flawless foursome are teachers at various schools in the Chicagoland area. This week we’re joined by Adam and Jason (also teachers) in this first part of a two part comics in the classroom podcast. In this episode we tackle the best way to use graphic novels in the curriculum of various grades. Comics have always been reader breeders for little kids but what about at the High School level. We also look at how the internet opens up not just comics but also the comic’s creators to students and teachers. How teachers can utilize one graphic novel across multiple disciplines is dissected as we take a thoughtful look using comics in the classroom.

Also discussed during the course of this episode: Mt.Greenwoods recent rash of car robberies. Dystopian comics Classics Illustrated adaptations of literature as scaffolding to understanding. The Constitution as a comic. Johnny Appleseed. Diagnosing the Joker and using My Friend Dalmer and Killing Joke in Psychology Class. Trinity the story of J.Robert Oppenhiemer graphic novel..

And after all that we wrap the show up with our regular weekly, unscripted, and totally unrehearsed “sad or luxurious” challenge. This week: SAD or LUXURIOUS: Censoring or editing comics content for multiple audiences
