The Fiery Foursome welcome guests Justin and Jay (both parents)
to a discussion of the best ways and types of comics to introduce
your kids to. The impact nerd culture has had and how that has made
comics more universally acceptable over the years. The importance
of exposing kids to fantasy in general but letting them come to
specific characters or concepts on their own. Near the end we’re
joined by Jay’s daughter Clara who schools the group on her world
of fantasy.
Topics Discussed Include: boys toys vs girls toys, nerd/geek
stereotypes, X-Men as outsiders, Smallville, Harry Potter,
Supergirl, male/female archetypes in kids literature and
marketing.
